MD_DA350 DA MD DA350 Dry Buttermilk (Central and East) MADISON, WI. March 05, 2015 (REPORT 9) DRY BUTTERMILK - CENTRAL AND EAST CENTRAL: Central dry buttermilk prices are mixed. The bottom is coming down and the top is moving up, making the range wider. Some manufacturers have had requests for condensed buttermilk. Demand for dry buttermilk is steady. Inventory levels are adequate. The DMN monthly average of the range price series for Central and East dry buttermilk during February was $.8871, compared to $1.9338 a year ago. EAST: Prices for dry buttermilk are mixed. Production remains active to process available buttermilk solids coming off the churns. Stocks are moderate, as inventories build. Buyers are in the "wait and see" mode, as the market continues to indicate an upward movement. Demand is good, with dry buttermilk sales to ice cream exhibiting an increase. The market undertone is firm. DAIRY PRODUCTS: According to NASS, U.S. production of dry buttermilk during January 2015 totaled 10.3 million pounds, 9.6% less than a year ago but 1.3% more than the previous month. Month ending stocks were 24.8 million pounds, 92.4% more than a year ago but 4.3% less than the previous month. F.O.B.
